Festival and Events Galore.

The 54th Annual Historic Home Tour in Marshall is the Midwest’s longest running home tour. This year sixteen sites including six private residences will be featured on the tour. Each home represents a unique style – gothic revival, cottage, Italianate, second empire, Queen Anne and craftsman. Seven museums are included in the tour along with two Michigan Avenue buildings – J.H. Cronin Store, under renovation, and the Great Escape Stage Company as well as the Zion Lutheran Church.

Come to Marshall on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10, 2017. Tickets are $17 before September 4 and $20 afterward, children under 12 are free when accompanied by a parent. Tickets are available at marshallhistoricalsociety.org. or [email protected].

Civil War Ball and Social Event
This annual event draws Civil War buffs from far and wide. Dressed in period costumes, the dancers will perform the round dances popular during that era. Visitors are welcome to watch or dance in their period costumes as well. The event is Friday, September 9, 2017, in front of the Honolulu House at 107 North Kalamazoo Avenue beginning at 7 pm.

Oktoberfest
Join in the fun at an Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, September 9 from 3 pm to 8 pm on South Eagle Street between Green Street and Hanover Street in downtown Marshall.  This event is sponsored by Christ Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church. The event will feature homemade German food, Dark Horse beer and live music. Beer and food served from 3 pm -7 pm with the live Oompah band playing on until 8 pm. Fun for the whole family!  Festivities will be under the tent on South. Eagle Street, between West Green and West Hanover.

American Vintage Market
Do you need to find a fresh look for your home? Come to the Antique and Vintage Market hosted by Bayberry Interiors during Marshall Historic Home Tour. This market has vendors specializing in antiques well as recycled and repurposed items giving them new life and a fresh look. Saturday and Sunday during home tour, September 9-10. Go to North Park Avenue for the latest in trends taking over the country.  Hours are 10 am -4 pm both days.

Great Escape Stage Company presents “The Sunshine Boys.”  
Neil Simon’s hilarious Broadway hit about two vaudeville comedians – who happen to hate each other – who reunite for a television special. The play will be launched with an introductory “taste of burlesque.” Performances run from September 14-17 and 21-24. 2017 at 7 pm.  Join Great Escape’s “grand opening” of its new theatrical space on September 9, 2017, in downtown Marshall at 110 East Michigan Avenue in Marshall.

Marshall’s All Things Vintage Market
You have heard the expression, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Well, it’s true. Visit “All Things Vintage,” a market selling repurposed and recycled merchandise. Hosted by the Calhoun County Fairgrounds on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 720 Fair Street in Marshall, shop the vintage market craze which is sweeping the country, thanks to television shows such as “Flea Market Flip” and “Fixer Upper” on HGTV. Join the fun at the fairgrounds from 11 am -4 pm.

Beer & Cocktail Dinner featuring New Holland Brewing & Spirits
GREAT BEER & SPIRITS + GREAT FOOD = ONE GREAT EVENING.
September 19, you can enjoy an evening of sampling various beers and spirits from New Holland Brewing and New Holland Spirits, of Holland MI, paired with five special food courses from Schuler’s.  The perfect recipe for an unforgettable evening. Donut Roll
Cyclists of every level are invited on Saturday, September 23 to join the first ever Marshall 12-mile slow roll. This event starts and ends at the Dark Horse Brewery.  The course will take you on a scenic route through Marshall showing you many of the historic sites available.  This event is family-friendly and is not timed. We welcome everyone to head out and join us on this new adventure. And don’t forget, freshly made donuts by Dark Horse Commons will be waiting for you to enjoy prior to the race!

Registration and T-Shirt Pickup from 8 am – 10 am at the Dark Horse Brewing Company, ride starts at 10 am.  Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. PRICE: $25 presale includes donut, Limited Edition T-Shirt and All-Day Beer Specials.  Day of: $10 includes donut and all-day beer specials.

Marshall Skeleton Fest invites you to come tickle your funny bone.
The first Marshall Skelton Fest will run from September 30 to October 31, 2017. Bring the family downtown and hang out with twenty-eight, 5’ tall skeletons, positioned in whimsical poses on the sidewalks throughout downtown Marshall. Imagine taking selfies with a silly pirate skeleton, toasting a wine sipping skeleton, dancing with a ballerina skeleton or playing Twister with a skeleton. Come join the fun in Marshall. The kick-off party is Saturday, September 30 from 2-5 pm at Bud’s Automotive Repair at 302 West Michigan Avenue. Present will be the Ecolimes playing hits like Thriller and Monster Mash, face painting, and Scoop, the “balloonatic.” On Grand Street, Old MacDonald’s Farm will be on hand to sell donuts and cider, Vito’s Pizza will sell their mouth-watering pizza and Arcadia will delight you with their legendary barbecue.
