Jobs and People: Creating 1,700 new high-paying manufacturing jobs to replace the 2,000 jobs lost over the past 30 years with the closing of Eaton, State Farm, and other companies. New jobs means millions of dollars in new personal income in the community, new customers for businesses, new middle class families paying local taxes and more.
New Tax Revenues: The City of Marshall is estimated to receive more than $2 million annually when BlueOval Battery Park Michigan is up and running. This means new funding for public safety including police and fire to keep us safe, new funding for parks, roads and other city services. Without Blue Oval, this property would generate zero tax revenue for City of Marshall. Of the tax revenue generated, Marshall Township will receive an estimated $383,000 annually, which is significantly more than the $21,000 it received from that property prior to BlueOval’s construction. In addition our local schools, libraries, and the ambulance authority among other entities, will receive significant net revenue gains because of the Ford Blue Oval facility.
More Green Space: In addition to jobs and tax revenue, our community will be able to take advantage of an additional 500 acres of green space with the development of the MAJOR Campus. This includes a conservation easement and community parks. Plans are being developed to create a recreational trail to run along the Kalamazoo River on the southern border of the MAJOR Campus that will connect to the North Country Trail.
Historical Preservation & New Community Amenities: We are also excited to announce that Bear Creek will be preserved and repurposed into a living museum and nature center. It will be a new place for community events, activities and education focused on preservation, conservation and education. And it will be a new tourism draw for Marshall.
