53rd Annual Marshall Christmas Parade

We can’t wait to see your Christmas parade float!

Join us for the 53rd Annual Marshall Christmas Parade! The parade is on Monday, November 27, 2017 and begins at 7:00 pm. This year’s theme is “Through a Child’s Eyes.” We are encouraging parade entries to be creative and use the theme chosen by the committee. The interpretation of the theme, “Through a Child’s Eyes” is left up to the participants’ imagination, but — the idea of inclusion is encouraged. Use the
following guidelines when planning your entry and remember, lots of music and lights are encouraged!

PARADE GUIDELINES

· Deadline for entry is Friday, November 17, 2017.

· Floats that wish to be judged must be in place by 6:00 pm.

· Riders/walkers may arrive by 6:30 pm.

· All entries must be decorated for the holidays, even walkers – get creative!

· Car clubs are limited to six (6) cars.

· Entries must be less than fourteen (14) feet high.

· Santa is not allowed on any entry as this honor is reserved for the final traditional entry.

· Loud gunshots or cannons are not allowed.

· Candy is allowed! Please be respectful for the safety of our children. You may hand out candy to children, but throwing is a safety risk; children tend to run into the street. Your cooperation will be very much appreciated. Failure to adhere to this rule could result in candy distribution being prohibited.

APPROVAL OF ENTRIES
Final approval of participation and décor of entries will be held at the discretion of the Christmas Committee Chair and parade judges.

AWARD-WINNING ENTRIES
Prior to the parade award recipients will be asked to provide two people to carry a banner in front of your entry or display. You will then return the banner to the designated parade volunteer that will be at the end of the parade route.

DONATIONS
Each participant is asked to consider making a donation. Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more will go to the Christmas fund which helps to maintain this Marshall holiday tradition by offsetting the thousands of dollars it costs each year to fund lights and decorations. No gift is too small or too large! Checks are payable to Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance or MAEDA.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Final instructions are mailed or emailed out the week prior to the parade. If you do not receive your entry number and information packet by November 24, please contact the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance to verify placement.
