The next couple of weeks are packed full of fun for everyone.
July 1 Cruise at The Fountain will thrill the car aficionados with the hundreds of refurbished autos from the middle of the twentieth century. This “Best of the Best” car show features camping, fair food, door prizes and free entertainment along with the classic cars. This will take place at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds. A full-time DJ will be on hand to take you back to the era of the classic cars’ music; enjoy a swap meet and see the awards given to the car owners. The most popular event is the downtown Cruise at the Fountain on Saturday evening at 5 pm. Visitors can relax under shade trees or on grass and sidewalks and view the fun cruise of cars along West Michigan Avenue.
July 1 at Cornwell’s Turkeyville is a flea market and antique show from 10 am to 5 pm. Stroll through the lanes and find lots of great deals and treasures. After the flea market and antique show go inside and have a homemade meal or one of the world’s best turkey sandwiches. Turkeyville makes its own ice cream and fudge located in the Ice Cream Parlour. The Country Junction is a gift shop and bakery with something for everyone. Plan a fun family day at Cornwell’s.
July 4 is the annual chicken barbecue, pet and bike parade and Rotary Band concert. The festivities begin at 10 am with the bike and pet parade. The youth decorates their bikes and pets for the holiday and marches around the Brooks Memorial Fountain showing off their handy work.
The Marshall Rotary Band concert begins at 11 am at the fountain circle with patriotic music and a tribute to those who have served in the military. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the festive music of our American heritage.The chicken barbecue starts serving at 11 am with freshly grilled chicken, pasta salad, roll and drink for $10. Hot dog meals include a dog with chips, applesauce and a juice box for $5. Buy tickets early at the Welcome Center in city hall. A few tickets may be available on July 4.July 8 and 9 is the annual Welcome to My Garden Tour hosted by the Marshall Area Garden Club.
Tour seven distinctive gardens in the Marshall area. Drive or walk to each garden and enjoy the labor of love provided by area gardeners. The tour will take place rain or shine, so come prepared. See the beautiful settings nestled in the rolling lawns of outstanding landscapes, fountains, flowers in bloom and much more. The hours of the tour are 10 am to 4 pm. The Welcome Center has tickets for $10 presale and$12 on the day of the tour.
