2019 Marshall Mandolin Summit

The Marshall Mandolin Summit and Northfield Mandolins Bringing World-Class Performers to Marshall August 8 – August 11.

The Marshall Mandolin Summit, an international gathering of mandolin players and students, will bring hundreds of musicians and concert-goers to downtown Marshall from August 8th through 11th. As part of this event, there will be multiple concerts around town. On Thursday, August 8th The Dark Horse Brewery will host West Bound Situation from Ann Arbor, MI. Jacob Warren and his group of talented multi-instrumentalists will perform from 7-9pm. The concert is free and open to the public and will be held outside in the beer garten. On August 10th and 11th, The Franke Center for the Arts will host two special concerts. On Saturday, August 10th the master musicians and instructors of the Summit’s daytime symposium will take the stage. This will be an evening of virtuosic performance and will feature the talents of Mike Marshall, Sierra Hull, Caterina Lichtenberg, John Reischman, Don Stiernberg and more.  Premier mandolinists from the US, Canada, and Europe will lead the audience on a sonic journey through the ages and around the globe. On Sunday, August 11th  The Marshall Mandolin Summit Orchestra will perform. This group is comprised of around 50 players that have traveled to Marshall for the Summit weekend. There will be music from Italy, Jazz from Chicago, groups, and combos of adults and student learners from local and regional schools; all together in a variety of ensembles. The concert is FREE (donations happily accepted) and open to the public. It’s an informal concert and is family-friendly.
