A Merry Marshall

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

During the holiday season, Marshall transforms into the perfect Christmas town complete with twinkling lights, classic decorations, gift shops to help you fulfill every wish list, and seasonal-inspired dinner and drinks.

Things will look different this season, which provides us an opportunity to get creative. Like many towns, Marshall has worked hard to make sure the community and visitors stay safe and healthy while frequenting local establishments.

Many restaurants offer heated patio dining this fall and winter, in addition to indoor seating. Retail and services are extending days and hours of operation to avoid crowds and accommodate safety measures put in place during this time. Masks are required for entry into Marshall businesses.

We are happy to announce the ever-popular Marshall Christmas Parade will take place November 30 from 6-9pm. Although in its 56th year, the parade will look brand new this year. Parade entries will be placed around the Calhoun County Fairgrounds and become part of the Merry Mile for that night. Viewers will be able to drive through and view the parade from the safety and warmth of their vehicles. Entry to the Christmas Parade and Merry Mile will be free that evening only.

Dress the kids in their pajamas, grab some hot cocoa and jump in the car for a festive adventure through the Merry Mile at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds. Featuring many lighted holiday displays, this drive-through event brightens holiday evenings throughout the entire season.

As usual, Santa is busy making toys and checking lists, but jolly St. Nick always makes time to hear from you! Be sure to visit the special mailbox in Grand Street Park and send your letter to the North Pole, no postage required. Include a return address so Santa can let the boys and girls of Marshall know their letters were received!

Looking for something crafty? Several places around town offer take-home and in-house craft-making opportunities like decorating Santa’s cookie plate, making a festive ribbon wreath, or creating a beautiful piece of stained-glass.

While visiting town, browse and shop the many unique stores featuring antiques, clothing, jewelry, Michigan-themed products, books, toys, and gifts for your furry friends. Save your receipts to participate in the Spend Local raffle! For every $50 spent in Marshall, you will be entered in the raffle to win one of several wonderful gifts. See more details about the program here.

After hitting the shops, enjoy a delicious meal at one of our many restaurants or breweries featuring locally sourced items and seasonally inspired food and drink specials. Take-out is available and so are gift certificates–stuff your family and friends stockings with gift certificates they can use later and give restaurants the cash they need now.

Another fun opportunity for adult friends is the Marshall Social District. Established in September 2020, the district is a public area where refreshments from participating establishments may be enjoyed outdoors. Visit here for hours, events, and other information about the Marshall Social District.
