BlueOval Battery Park Will Mean Influx of Investment and Tax Revenues for Local Communities
The benefits of Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will be felt for generations to come, positively impacting local communities like the City of Marshall and local schools through tens of millions in additional tax revenues.
Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will create millions of dollars of new revenue across the region. This includes additional tax revenues for Marshall Public Schools, Marshall Township, the City of Marshall and Calhoun County, as well as contributions to community assets and services like the Marshall District Library and the Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority.
With the approval of the Industrial Facilities Tax (IFT) exemption, the City of Marshall will benefit from new tax revenue of more than $2 million annually when construction on BlueOval is finished. Of the $2 million, Marshall Township will receive more than $383,000 annually compared to the approximately $21,000 in annual revenue the Township received from that property prior to the construction of BlueOval.
“BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will benefit the Marshall area for years to come, and it is already making a positive impact on our communities,” said Derek Perry, City Manager of Marshall. “It’s exciting to see the broad benefits of the project today and increased tax revenue into the future that will support police and fire, roads, parks, recreation, transit, local libraries and our schools.”
In addition, the project will contribute more than $500,000 in operating revenue to Calhoun County and nearly $600,000 to the Calhoun Intermediate School District, and additional revenue for other public services, according to tax assessments from the City of Marshall’s Assessor’s Office.
“The investment Ford is making in BlueOval Battery Park Michigan is a win-win for our entire region,” said Kelli Scott, Calhoun County administrator. “New tax revenue will better position our county to provide public safety, recreational opportunities, and other essential services to our residents and visitors.”
Marshall City Council has approved the IFT exemption certificate for BlueOval Battery Park, a state of Michigan program meant to stimulate economic growth. When completed in 2026, estimates show BlueOval Battery Park will generate $3 billion in economic investment to the area and create thousands of new, good-paying jobs.
“It’s exciting to see hundreds of workers on the MAJOR Campus that will continue to ramp up to almost a thousand by the end of the year. In the short term this means more people visiting our shops and spending money at our small businesses and in the long term it means more jobs, personal wealth and revenues for our community,” said James Durian, CEO of MAEDA. “We’re excited to see the economic benefits of this project that will positively impact local communities and schools for generations to come.”
