Choose Marshall and Greater Albion Chamber Co-Host Legislative Forum
Choose Marshall and the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce invite the public to attend an upcoming Legislative Forum on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at The Franke Center for the Arts in downtown Marshall.
This Legislative Forum is an opportunity for both communities to come together to hear what is in the cards that may affect Michigan citizens, businesses, and employees. A presentation will be given by both the U.S. and Michigan Chambers of Commerce. Attendees will hear from Ryan Gleason, Senior Manager of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber’s Great Lakes Regional Office and Wendy Block, Senior Vice President of Business Advocacy at the Michigan Chamber. Block is the Michigan Chamber’s Chief Lobbyist and leads the Chamber’s extensive government affairs and political operations, and she specializes in employment laws and health policy issues.
Gleason will discuss issues that have happened on Capitol Hill that impact the business community, what to look forward to in the next legislative session and political ramifications of Election Day. Block will focus on key business issues that might be passed before the end of the year, including legislation to soften the impact of the new earned sick time and minimum wage laws. In addition, she will cover “polluter pay” legislation, tax policy and economic development changes.
Special thanks to the event sponsors Oaklawn Hospital, VantagePointe Financial Group and Highpoint Community Bank.
The forum will be held at The Franke Center for the Arts located at 214 East Mansion Street, in Marshall on Wednesday, November 20 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm (doors open at 11:30am). The public is welcome to attend. Registration is required. Lunch provided. The workshop is free for Choose Marshall Chamber and Greater Albion Chamber members and $15 for non-members.
