Downtown Marshall’s destination for all things sweet, Great Lakes Candy & Cones, is delighted to announce its official reopening and a fresh start under the new ownership of Elizabeth Aronoff with three generations of the Aronoff family helping with the daily operations of the shop. The Choose Marshall Chamber marked this transition with a special 'We Noticed' Ribbon Cutting ceremony, recognizing the Aronoff family’s commitment to the downtown community.
Located in downtown Marshall, Great Lakes Candy & Cones promises to uphold its tradition of serving a large selection of treats. Customers can continue to enjoy the extensive variety of bulk candy, nostalgic favorites, slushies, modern delights like freeze-dried candy, premium Hershey’s ice cream, and Dippin' Dots.
The Aronoff family's reopening is a boost for Marshall's retail district. The business now brings an exciting new addition to the menu: signature sweets from Mark Aronoff’s other successful venture, The Fudge Factory located in Plainwell. Customers can now indulge in freshly made fudge, peanut brittle, and caramel corn.
The Aronoff family recently took the reins and is working to refresh the space, ensuring they maintain the charm and extensive selection the community has come to cherish. While they have been hard at work reopening the doors, they anticipate completing store renovations by March 2026.
"We are absolutely delighted to be the new custodians of Great Lakes Candy & Cones," said Mark Aronoff. "This shop is a cornerstone of sweet memories for so many families in Marshall, and we are committed to making the experience even better. From our large selection of bulk candy and nostalgic treats to our delicious ice cream, we can't wait to welcome everyone back and create new traditions."
Aronoff emphasized their dedication to the local business network: "Continuing the store’s Chamber membership was a crucial step for us. We believe in the power of a strong, interconnected business community. It provides us with the tools to succeed and the opportunity to collaborate with our neighbors to make downtown Marshall the best it can be. We're excited to be part of downtown Marshall."
Patty Williams, Business Development Manager of Choose Marshall, expressed her support for the new ownership. "The saving of a downtown business like Great Lakes Candy & Cones under passionate new ownership is incredibly important. It's not just about ice cream and candy; it's about maintaining the diversity and vitality of our retail mix," said Williams. "A full and thriving downtown is what draws residents and visitors alike, and this reopening is a wonderful boost to our local economic success."
