The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA)/Choose Marshall held a We Noticed Ribbon Cutting presentation to congratulate Oaklawn Pediatric Therapy on the re-opening of the Pediatric Therapy clinic in the Ricketson Medical Building in Marshall.

Oaklawn Pediatric Therapy focuses on providing a family-centered and customized care specific to a child’s needs. The new clinic offers a new enlarged space for children, from birth to young adult, in need of speech, physical and occupational therapy.  Taylor Bly, a speech therapist with the clinic stated, “Our individualized treatment approach is one-on-one. With all our staff being in the same space, this allows us to operate on a multi-disciplinary level where each professional staff member can easily reach out to another to make a comprehensive plan that best fits a child’s needs.”  She added, “We can evaluate a child’s abilities and difficulties and can then develop a fully encompassing plan to break down the challenging tasks into smaller parts to help a child move forward toward success.”

The clinic’s renovation includes more private and larger treatment rooms, multiple treatment gyms, and a large sensory gym equipped with a variety of equipment to target sensory, regulation, and fine and gross motor tasks that support overall growth for development.   All these areas are now served by an enlarged pediatric-friendly waiting area allowing families and children to socialize with each other.  The additional treatment spaces and larger room sizes have allowed for multiple caregivers to be present when accompanying a child for services, more children to receive treatment at the same time, and the clinic to add more professional staff to better serve the community.

Macey Boden, a speech therapist with the clinic, is very pleased to be working in the new space and was excited to speak about the future of the clinic.  “We hope to soon build a sensory room with more specialized equipment to best serve our children with sensory processing disorders and Autism.”

Oaklawn Pediatric Therapy is located at 103 E. Mansion St. in the Ricketson Building in Marshall.  The clinic is open Monday-Friday from 7am-5:30pm.   To learn more about clinic services or to schedule a free screening or consultation call 269-789-8990, visit the website at oaklawnhospital.org/services/pediatric-therapy/ or find it on Facebook.
