Choose Marshall Chamber Welcomes the Transportation Authority of Calhoun County as a New Chamber Member
The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA)/Choose Marshall held a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TACC) as a new chamber member.
Public transportation is a critical need for many residents of Calhoun County. Without it, barriers exist to education, receiving healthcare, employment, grocery shopping and many other needed destinations. In November of 2024 voters in the cities of Albion, Battle Creek, Marshall and Springfield approved a crucial ballot proposal. This successful millage secured the dedicated funding for public transportation services within and between these four key cities. The passage of this millage demonstrated strong community support for public transit and paved the way for possible future initiatives.
Erick Stewart, Board Chair of TACC, is excited for the future of TACC, “We are grateful for the trust placed in us and are committed to delivering efficient, accessible and sustainable transportation solutions that benefit all residents of Calhoun County. The passing of the millage marked a significant step forward in our efforts to enhance mobility and connectivity for all residents of Calhoun County.” TACC Board Member Tom Tarkiewicz added, “We are thrilled to be connected to the Choose Marshall Chamber and believe that joining the Chamber will provide invaluable opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and engagement with local businesses and stakeholders. We look forward to working alongside fellow Chamber members to strengthen the economic fabric of Marshall and ensure that transportation plays a key role in its continued growth and prosperity."
TACC encourages all residents of Calhoun County to learn more about developments by visiting ridecalhoun.org. and to submit any questions through the website.
