The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA)/Choose Marshall held a ribbon cutting to welcome West Prospect Pictures as a new chamber member.
Business owners, Scott and Angela Whitesell, joined forces in 2018 and founded West Prospect Pictures. A veteran thespian, Scott got his start as a youth in Marshall on the Franke Center for the Arts’ stage. Whitesell stated, “I was hooked and was continually active thereafter in theater throughout West Michigan.” He added, “In 1989, I had a summer internship at Access Vision and was introduced to video and film, and from that point on, I have been working on both sides of the stage and screen.” In 2013 Scott appeared in his first feature film (a Michigan-based Friel Films production) “A Haunting in Cawdor” starring Cary Elwes, of “Princess Bride” fame. After that production, Friel Films, named Scott as its Vice President of Development.
West Prospect Pictures has a pipeline of projects across genres and a robust network of film production professionals. Its mission is to demonstrate the viability of feature film production in West Michigan. Despite industry delays due to the pandemic, the company has two feature films with Friel Films currently in post-production. Another full feature film has recently concluded and utilized a Michigan crew, cast and locations.
