The Choose Marshall Chamber recently held a Ribbon Cutting for DeVine & Company and welcomed the business as a new member. Katy DeVine, former owner of the Marshall bed and breakfast Villa on Verona, opened the storefront in mid-March.
“Last June, I opened a small boutique within Villa on Verona to cater to my guests as well as complement what was offered downtown,” said DeVine. “I learned so much from my visitors about what they loved about Marshall, and also what they would like to see here, that after selling the b and b, I decided to expand on the boutique idea. My goal is to add to the downtown and offer a unique shopping experience. I don’t want to duplicate what others in town are doing; I just want to continually try new things and have fun!”
The tagline for the business, “Clothing, Tearoom and Dry Goods,” only begins to give an overview of offerings. DeVine holds an agra-food license, allowing her to carry her homemade pastries and granola. Locally-sourced honey, chocolate, and drinking vinegars; eco-friendly cleaning supplies, home décor, and gifts; and accessories for women, men, babies, and pets are just a few of the other offerings in the shop. There is even a small seating area in the front window, where customers are invited to visit over a cup of organic tea.
“It’s important to me to support small entrepreneurs, too,” added DeVine. “I want to carry items from as many local providers as possible.”
DeVine & Company is located at 105 West Michigan Avenue, Marshall and may be reached at 269-832-0611 and on facebook.com/Devine & Company. The store is open Monday through Saturday, 10am – 6pm.
