The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA)/Choose Marshall held a ribbon cutting to welcome Boca Music, a musical instrument store, as a new chamber member in downtown Marshall.

Crispin Bocanegra, Jr. has been a musician all his life.  In fact, he can’t remember a day when he didnt play the guitar.  He grew up with musical parents in a very diverse environment that afforded him the opportunity to appreciate all kinds of musical styles.  Bocanegra brings years of musical experience with him.  For years he has had an online presence and is a well-known local entertainer, but he dreamed of opening a retail store in Marshall and providing a spot for musicians, both professional and hobbyists, to visit and purchase instruments.  Crispin partnered with Connie Petch, a veteran business leader, to build Boca Music.  Bocanegra commented, “I’m so excited to be open, and I’m looking forward to offering a hometown retail experience that promises quality and unique musical instruments at a fair price.”

Customers will find a store well-stocked with several kinds of musical instruments, both new and used, and Boca Music offers merchandise that other stores don’t.  The store features many popular brands of guitars (Fender, Gibson, ESP and more), banjos, microphones, effects pedals, amplifiers, ukuleles, keyboards and various guitar sundries, such as strings, pics, cables, and lesson books.  Bocanegra stated, “We are so happy to provide a wealth of merchandise to our customers, without them having to leave Marshall.  I hope this also brings people to Marshall so they can explore all the wonderful stores, restaurants, and history we have to offer.”  He added, “Boca Music will also offer guitar and ukulele lessons through the talents of three instructors, teaching different styles of guitar.

Boca Music is at 221 E. Michigan Avenue in downtown Marshall.  It is open Monday through Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.  Call Boca Music at 269-425-2031 or visit bocamusic.com.
