The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA)/Choose Marshall held a Ribbon Cutting to welcome Professional Academy of Cosmetology as a new Choose Marshall Chamber Member and to congratulate them on opening a new cosmetology school downtown Marshall.
Academy owners Liz and Ron Hannold purchased the building at the corner of South Eagle and Michigan Avenue in January 2022 and began renovating the ground floor space. The first session of classes at the private cosmetology school began on September 6 and there are plans to start another session in January 2023.
Owner Liz Hannold said she actively recruited students for the first session from local high schools, and she has already experienced demand from local beauty salons to hire graduating students. Liz is also the Director and Instructor at the Academy and will offer hands on training ensuring students get the instruction needed to master the skills and knowledge required. Hannold states, “We are looking for students who are eager, creative, and ready to start working towards a career in the field of cosmetology.” She added, “Whether you want to focus on cosmetology or on becoming an instructor, we are where you need to be. I have 31 plus years of experience in the field, and I am excited to share my knowledge with you!” Liz also commented, “I will train you on the latest trends in the industry while providing a solid foundation of the fundamentals. I plan on keeping the class size smaller than 20 students. I feel being able to give that individual attention to students is one key to success.” After accumulating 400 hours of training, students move to the salon floor where they can provide service to customers under an instructor’s supervision.
The Hannolds’ future plans for the building include renovating the second and third stories into three apartments. Ron commented, “We look forward to being a part of the Choose Marshall Chamber and becoming more involved in the community. We are very fortunate to have received grants and benefits offered by the Chamber for its members.”
