The community excitedly welcomes Grand River Brewery to downtown Marshall!
The recently renovated historic Cronin building in downtown Marshall is now home to the second Grand River Brewery location which originated in Jackson, Michigan. With a casual and warm industrial, steam-punk décor, the combination brewery, distillery, winery and restaurant, is a truly unique and inviting gathering space.
“My business partner, Justin, said we should come to Marshall. I was skeptical, but was easily convinced after witnessing the positive, welcoming attitude of the business community and residents,” stated co-owner John Burtka. “We are honored to be welcomed into the community and intend to become a vital part of downtown,” added co-owner Justin Dalenberg.
Specializing in small batch ales, Grand River Brewery typically offers 16-20 distinct microbrews made with local grains and hops. Their Monkey Mouth IPA was awarded the Gold medal for “Best North American IPA” at the New York International Beer Competition. Adding to the unique selections, distiller, John Burtka, produces whiskey, vodka, gin, run and agave spirits for Grand River Brewery.
With a motto of offering locally sourced, made from scratch, honest food, Executive Chef, Justin Dalenberg, adds a new, creative twist to classic pub fare to elevate the flavors. The diverse menu includes steak and seafood selections cooked to perfection on the Michigan Oak – fired wood grill.
“Over thirteen years and three mayors ago, this dream was one cities vision,” stated Mayor Jack Reed. “It has been a long hard road, that many, many people had a part in. Many thought this day would never happen, but I am proud to say, Marshall today we celebrate!” MAEDA CEO Scott Fleming added, “the energy that owners John Burtka and Justin Dalenberg are bringing to downtown will have a positive impact on our commerce and is making Marshall the place to visit.”
