Local Business Feature: Andrew Scibbe
Welcome to Pastrami Joe's Deli, where great food meets welcoming hospitality. Andrew Scibbe, a passionate entrepreneur with a lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant, owns and works at this tasty place. His work ethic and vision is inspiring to young professionals in Marshall, MI.
Andrew’s restaurant journey began at just 16 years old. He worked at several different restaurants but the most impactful was Chick-fil-A. Andrew became the manager and learned about customer service, leadership, and how to run a restaurant. However, Andrew always had a bigger goal: "I always dreamed of owning my own restaurant." His dream would soon come true!
After attending Purdue University Northwest with the degree of Entrepreneurship, Andrew knew that he wanted to own Pastrami Joes. “My family would always tease me that I would someday run Pastrami Joes. When I heard it was for sale, I knew it was a sign.”
Andrew has always wanted more than just a career in food. He welcomed ownership, leadership, and balance. Andrew knew that switching from manager to owner would be a learning curve but he was determined and passionate for his community. He also shared that owning his own business has created a life where he has the freedom to be with his family. “I have found the perfect balance between work and family”. Andrew’s children love to visit their dad at work while eating sandwiches and being behind the scenes!

Pastrami Joe’s is guided by three core values. They strive to be positive, generous, and fun. These values extend to the community and customers, creating an atmosphere that’s welcoming to all. That vision continues to evolve as he grows both the business and his roots in the community. He hopes to expand the restaurant into a bake house, where they home make their bread and pastries, and open several more locations throughout Michigan.
Andrew loves being part of Marshall’s community. He describes it as: "very welcoming! It’s easy to create a business and be involved in Marshall’s community." Young entrepreneurs can be inspired with Andrew’s work of starting small. His advice is “whatever you want to see in the world, go create it”. It is important to start small and where you are at. He states that “you don’t have to change the whole world, just the world around you”. Pastrami Joe’s focuses on being involved in the community and creating a positive impact. Andrew has reopened the Battle Creek Pastrami Joe’s location to spread their mission and welcome a bigger community.
But no matter how far Pastrami Joe’s Deli goes, its heart will always be in community, family, and the love of great food.
