Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA) looking for CEO.

Marshall is a Redevelopment Ready Certified (RRC) community that has one of the top two mega sites identified by the State of Michigan for development. The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA) is a 501(c) 3 organization that provides consolidated economic development efforts for the City of Marshall as well as the Marshall Local Development Finance Authority, Marshall Downtown Development Authority and area townships under 425 agreements. MAEDA also offers Chamber of Commerce services to the area and serves as the entity that promotes convention and tourism activities according to the county’s hotel accommodations tax ordinance. The CEO of MAEDA has the leadership responsibility for all these efforts in the Marshall area. This includes aiding local governments in attracting new businesses and industry in the Marshall area; retaining existing businesses and industry through support, training and development efforts; and promoting the greater Marshall community.

The successful candidate will be well versed in the state, local and federal programs available for encouraging economic development and ideally will have successfully worked with state organizations facilitating these programs. This individual will effectively manage and develop the MAEDA team in providing a service-oriented approach to all stakeholders. This individual will be highly organized, with a global view of what it takes for a community to maintain and expand its economic base and will be committed to the development of a talented workforce and creation of new jobs. In addition, this position is responsible for enhancing Chamber benefits, business services and growing the community’s tourism reach utilizing a high-performing staff.

Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree. In addition, candidates shall have demonstrated experience in economic and community development, coupled with a background working with public administration, hospitality industry, and philanthropic or not-for-profit organizations. This individual will be knowledgeable of assets the greater Marshall community possesses, and broadly promote these assets to expand tourism and attraction to this region. A preference will be given to candidates with a thorough knowledge of programs and grants available in the State of Michigan. The CEO will report to the Executive Committee of the MAEDA Board of Directors. Residency in Marshall is preferred upon acceptance of this position.
