Small Business Academy – Brian Surgener

Want to increase your small business savvy? Join the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance and Chamber (MAEDA) for the Small Business Academy series. The kick-off event on March 8 will feature Brian Surgener who will present “Marketing for Small Business.”

Brian W. Surgener is the owner of the Jackson Coffee Co. that boasts five locations, and the Jackson Candy & Fudge Factory with one location and multiple wholesale locations. He is the recipient of 3 awards from the Jackson Chamber of Commerce including two Brick Awards and Entrepreneur of the year.  In March of 2015, M-Live named Jackson Coffee Co as one of the top 10 coffee houses in the State of Michigan and during the past 10 years, it has consistently won best coffee house in Jackson. In November 2016, the Jackson Candy & Fudge Factory was named one of Michigan’s Top 10 Fudge Shops by “Only In Your State” tourism.

Surgener is an honor’s graduate from Michigan State University as well as the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. He is strong supporter of numerous causes in the Jackson community.  He is married with two children and his hobbies include spending time with his family, car collecting, attending sporting events, and tending to his hobby farm and bees in Pleasant Lake.

This Small Business Academy will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. on March 8 in the second-floor training room at the Marshall Public Services Building located at 900 S. Marshall Ave. in Marshall.
