Join the Marshall Area Garden Club to learn about ecosystems with Professor Leah Knapp from The University of Olivet's Biology Department. Learn about the factors that determine habitats on a large, medium, small &even micro scale, & how plants are adapted to them. Discover the ecosystems you have in your own garden, & how to work with them, enhance them, or even create them. Those interested in learning more about the club are invited to stay for a short business meeting to follow. Registration required. This program will be available both in-person & via Zoom. Dr. Leah Knapp, Professor of Biology at the University of Olivet for over 34 years, is a formerly practicing veterinarian who teaches courses in medicine, ecology & environment, including ecosystem ecology, winter ecology & plant ecology. Dr. Knapp earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Rutgers University, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University, & did post-doctoral coursework in ecology at MSU. She has done plant & animal survey work for various organizations including the Michigan Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy & the Michigan Natural Features Inventory. Dr. Knapp is an avid native plant gardener & has been on the Marshall Welcome to My Garden Tour three times.
